Kentucky Lake, created in 1944 by
the Tennessee Valley Authority by daming up the Tennessee River,
is the largest artificial lake east of the Mississippi River.The
surface area of the lake is 160,309 acres and has over 2000
miles of shoreline. Located in both
Kentucky and Tennessee, is one of the nation's largest man-made
lakes. At 184 miles in length it provides hydro-electric
power and is one of the best fishing spots in the United states.
Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass are plentiful in this lake with
most tournaments taking over 20 pounds to win.The lake is also
full of black and white crappie which can be caught all year
long. The water level fluctuates between 359 feet at summer pool
to 354 feet at winter pool. The lake is host to many bass
tournaments like the FLW Tour, Everstart Series, Wal-Mart Bass
Fishing League, The Bassmaster Elite Series and the Bassmaster
Week-End Series. Kentucky Lake offers a unique experience for
everyone - from angles to boaters to outdoorsmen.
